Attendee Guidelines

In accordance with the Policy for Use of the Stone Family Center for Performing Art (Policy Code 5031),

“The use or possession of firearms, other weapons, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products or illegal drugs on school property is strictly prohibited.”

Attendees who choose to ignore this policy may be asked to leave the convention.

Covid-19 Policy

The management of Wilkes Comic Con remains committed to the health and safety of our attendees, our exhibitors, and our staff. This COVID-19 policy is a reflection of the guidelines of the CDC, the state, the venue (Stone Center), and our insurance company. The CDC recommends that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a facemask. We strongly encourage everyone to do so. Wilkes Comic Con will be providing hand sanitizer and masks upon entry. We request that guests maintain a safe social distance from one another. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By attending Wilkes Comic Con, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Our staff will be wearing masks throughout the event.

Weapons Policy

In accordance with the Stone Center Policy, no weapons, concealed or otherwise, are permitted on Wilkes County School property. Wilkes Comic Con will enforce this no weapons policy. Bladed weapons are not permitted. Real firearms are not allowed at Wilkes Comic Con. We reserve the right to treat anything that looks like a real weapon as a weapon.  Attendees who choose to ignore this policy may be asked to leave the convention.

All weapons must be non-working and peace bonded. We will not allow functioning projectile weapons (i.e., including water pistols, silly-string guns, and ping-pong pistols), but things like foam nerf swords, and obviously fake laser guns that just make noise are allowed.

No clowning around or showing off in the common areas. Any weapon used in an offensive manner will be confiscated and may result in expulsion from the con.

We expect you to use good judgment, and if you have any questions about this rule, please ask us so we can clear up any disputes. That is what we are here for.

Photo Policy

By attending Wilkes Comic Con, you recognize that the staff and management reserves the right to take photos of members, merchandise, costumes, etc. for promotional and advertising purposes. We will not take any inappropriate photos, and if any do somehow accidentally occur, they will be deleted (if it is on a device that can delete photos) and not published.

No Pets Allowed

If you have pets, please leave them at home. The Stone Center will not allow animals into the building except for service animals. If your service animal is not wearing any kind of ID identifying them as a service animal, you may be stopped by security.

Anti-bullying Policy

Any bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind (verbal, physical, emotional, etc.) will not be tolerated.

Cosplay is not consent. If necessary, we will contact local law enforcement, provide escort, offer a safe place or otherwise assist those who may experience harassment to make sure they feel safe.

Disagreements, discussion, and freedom of speech are all supported at this con, but please keep your disagreements and exercising of freedom of speech respectful. Failure to abide by this or any other of the rules will result in expulsion from the con.
