Wilkes Comic Con is run by artists for artists and the community. As the region’s premier convention for comic art, pop culture, and collectibles, we are dedicated to providing the best experience for every fan and creator who walks through our doors.

Initially run as a proof-of-concept as the Wilkes Mini Con in January 2014, it was rebranded as Wilkes Comic Con in July 2019. Our first true event featured 30 vendors, a full entertainment stage, our first VIP tickets, and two gaming rooms.
COVID-19 forced the postponement of the 2020 event. The con returned in July 2021, moving to the larger Stone Center. The new facility allowed for a larger marketplace and food trucks.
We have now hosted ELEVEN Wilkes Comic Cons! Our events have drawn guests from across North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky. Our last event featured more than 50 special guests, artists, vendors, and crafters in our Indoor Marketplace and Outdoor Bazaar. There were even 6 food vendors.
The Cosplay Contest has continued to grow and features professional coaching and judging. This year’s prizes included tickets to Cosplay America.
A number of our authors and artists also hosted panels.

We have several generous sponsors, including Dragon’s Den, who also runs the gaming room, and Two Boros Brewery and Pizzeria who caters our lunch for our vendors.

Wilkes Comic Con is just the beginning! In 2024, we began running Boone Comic Con! We are currently in discussions to host additional events… SO WATCH THIS SPACE!
